President’s Report: April 2022

Dear Members,

Season will soon be coming to an end and a good number of you will be leaving the area for the summer. We had an excellent season at the club. Most of the days when the weather was favorable, we were busy with launches. We launched 4500 boats in the first quarter of the year. Sales in our food and beverage division were strong.

With summer approaching we will begin our summer projects in the next few weeks. I will detail the projects in future newsletters. We do as many of the projects as possible using our talented employees and management. Our club is in its 17th year and is beautifully maintained. We estimate that we have had over 225,000 launches since our 2006 opening. Credit for how our club is operated goes to our outstanding management staff and talented employees. Thank you to our General Manager Chad Edmonds, Food and Beverage Manager Adrian Boneta, Harbormaster Javier Rodriquez, assistant harbormasters, Kristi Kransel and Kyle Wrenn and comptroller Carol Caraotta. The combined years of service to Sanibel Harbour Yacht club is an amazing 55 years!

The Board of Directors commends this talented group for their loyalty and their tremendous efforts every day at work!
At the annual member’s meeting in March, we welcomed 2 new Board members. They both bring strong business experience and a great amount of knowledge to the Board. Randy Manning and Fred Walter will do a great job to help keep our club at the 5 Star status that we are so proud of and maintain the financial success for your investment in the club.

Your Sanibel Harbour Board of Directors:

  • Peter Mazzagatti, President
  • Fred Walter, Vice President

The April recipient was Fidel Prado-Nunez. Fidel is an extraordinary employee who works in our marina division He performs many duties at the club. Fidel is a 6-time winner of our Employee of the Year, in the Marina Division.

April Activities

This Thursday, April 14, is our last Italian Feast Buffet for this season at the club. This incredible “All You Can Eat” feast of home cooked, and traditional Italian favorites is offered at only $19.99. Children 12 and under is only $9.99. This is a little late in the season as many of our members have left the area but we wanted to give you one more special night. The ravioli, pasta, meatballs, the unique Sicilian style Antipasto Aioli appetizer and our incredible home-made cannoli are specialty items that you cannot find at a retail store or restaurant in this area. Our low prices and no tipping policy make this a real bargain.

The best part of this event is the home-made Italian “Gravy” or sauce. It is my mother’s recipe that has been in my family for over 100 years and has been shared by 5 generations of my Italian American family.

Hope to see you there. Bon Appetito!

We had many memorable outings this season for our members to enjoy. Our welcome back party, fun run boat trips, buffets and 4 Sanibel Karaoke Sing Along events were well attended and successful. Thanks to all that attended and we look forward to adding even more events next season.

As mentioned herein we had a strong season in our bar and restaurant. In a few months we will slow down and it is financially challenging as always. If you have not been to the club for lunch or dinner in a while, please give us a try. We have 3 excellent chefs, a new menu, delicious desserts and daily specials Our food is better than ever, professional management and great service.

We also have our fourth floor available for all types of parties, business meetings and special occasions. We can specialize your food and drink selections to make your event a memorable one.

From simple appetizers and drinks, to buffets and full course dinners, we can do it all. Our prices our reasonable, valet parking and no tipping is easy on your budget in these trying times.

Recently we hosted a Birthday Party for member Billy Meehan and his family and friends. His wife Virginia sent me this lovely email.

Hi Peter,
Thank you for the belated birthday wishes to Bill. He was surprised and everything was so well done. Adrian did an excellent job getting everything set and we can’t thank him enough for the wonderful service. Everyone thought the food was delicious and service outstanding. Everything went very smoothly and Ashley was also so accommodating. A great time and place to have an event. Everyone had a chance to share words to Bill. Lots of laughs as well as great memories. We look forward to more events at the club. Bill will remember his 80th birthday for sure. Thank you so much for everything.

Sincerely, Virginia

News from members is always welcome. As always, I am available to assist members in any club matters. Have a great and safe summer!
