President’s Report: July 2026

Dear Members,

Our 250th anniversary on July 4th is almost here. As we all know, the special anniversary will be celebrated throughout the country. Sitting back and reflecting on the greatness of America is a wonderful thing. I believe that we are the greatest country in world history and have contributed so much to mankind and the world. My grandparents emigrated from Italy at the turn of the last century with very little other money. They worked very hard for low wages in sometimes dangerous conditions and received little respect or admiration. They wanted their children to achieve the American Dream. Their descendants are 4th-generation and have all achieved the American Dream. I am sure that many of you can share that same story.

Remember, the freedoms and lifestyle that we enjoy come with great sacrifice from our forefathers. Let’s all enjoy the July 4th festivities and our freedoms and celebrate our country’s birthday with pride and honor. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

July 4th reservations are now open!

If you plan on going out on July 4th, please note in the reservation comments whether you plan to stay out for the fireworks. This will help our staff plan accordingly.

MEMBER SURVEY

2026 holds special meaning for our club, as it marks our 20th anniversary! Over the last three and a half years, Sanibel Harbor Yacht Club has made tremendous strides in updating and modernizing its facilities and amenities during the recovery process from Hurricane Ian. The new and beautiful look of our storage barn is a perfect example of this effort.

As our facility continues to evolve, several members have suggested creating an additional merchandise logo that better reflects the modern look and spirit of Sanibel Harbour Yacht Club.

To be clear, this is not a change to our official SHYC logo. Our current logo will remain the official identity of the Club and will continue to be used for all official business, communications, and signage.

The idea is simply to create an optional design that could be featured exclusively on member merchandise available through a third-party vendor. This would allow members to purchase apparel and other items with a fresh, lifestyle-inspired design while preserving our Club’s official logo and identity. Because the merchandise program is handled through preorders with a third-party vendor, there would be no cost to the Association.

Before moving forward, the Board would like to hear from our membership. We invite you to share your preferences as we explore this concept. If there is sufficient interest, members will have the opportunity to preorder a variety of merchandise, including T-shirts, jackets, hats, glassware, coffee mugs, flags, and other specialty items.

Below is a photo with two potential logos on each side of our current logo. The one on the left was prepared by one of our owners, Charlie Seymour, and the one on the right was prepared by one of our frequent Punta Rassa guests, Paul Barlo. The Board would genuinely like input from owners on how we should proceed on this project. Do you prefer one of the new logos, or should we keep our current one? If you would like to see a new look for the Club, which would you prefer?

As always, your input and suggestions are greatly appreciated, and the Board looks forward to hearing from you on this project.

June Employee of The Month

Our June Employee of the Month is Alfredo Ramirez.

Alfredo has been with us since October 2023 as a member of our Boat Washing team. He consistently demonstrates excellent multitasking skills and exceptional attention to detail. His hard work, dedication, and commitment to quality make him a truly deserving recipient of the Employee of the Month award. Congratulations, Alfredo!

I would ask all members to review the document section of our website. It is packed with information to keep you informed about rules and protocols vital to ensuring a productive environment for all to enjoy.

Your Board of Directors and I are committed to offering our members and their guests a 5 Star Experience each time you visit the club. All aspects of club operation are important to us. If your experience with our marina boat service, food service, valet, personnel, or any facet of our club operation fails to meet your expectations, or if it is exceptional, please let me know. I am always available to help members in any way possible. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. God bless our great nation and may it continue to prosper!

Sincerely,

Peter Mazzagatti, President
