President’s Report: June 2026
Dear Members and Lessees,
This month’s report is dedicated to our management and employees of Sanibel Harbor Yacht Club. We strive to keep our club the finest facility in SWF. Our facility is not only beautiful but extremely well-maintained. None of this happens by accident. It is done through the efforts of our incredible management and staff.
Managing our club is a difficult, multi-faceted job. It requires skills in facility management, personnel, restaurant operations, accounting, budgeting, customer relations, service, knowledge of Florida condo laws and regulations, and dealing with dozens of vendors. Member satisfaction is of critical importance to the Board of Directors. We have almost 400 owners, and we want to deliver a five-star experience across all aspects of their boating. The overwhelming majority of our members are incredible people and have been tremendously supportive over the years. If there is any issue, we will make every effort to correct it.
This all starts at the top. We have a gifted, talented, and dedicated General Manager in Chad Edmonds. He knows every aspect of managing our business. He has incredible organizational skills, superb attention to detail, and he handles business professionally. He has assembled a wonderful staff consisting of three harbormasters, a restaurant manager with 20 years of industry experience, and an accounting professional.
One of the amazing things about our staff is their tenure at SHYC. Almost 1/3 of all employees here have over 10 years of service. Those of you who own businesses know that this is an incredible accomplishment. See our list of employees and managers below:

Chad and I either meet or talk almost every day. If something needs to be done, it will get done. Our Board of Directors comprises five retired businesspersons with experience owning a variety of businesses, including restaurants, hotels, property management, automotive, construction, and medical services. We are here full-time and work with no compensation. We serve because we love our club and have tremendous pride in our service and products.
Our season was very successful. We launched 3,331 boats between December and Memorial Day. We also saw a much-needed increase in sales in our bar and restaurant. Remember, if you would like any food or beverages for your day on the water, note it on our Boat Cloud app when you reserve your arrival time, and your order will be ready when you arrive. Based on feedback from our members and guests, we believe our food and beverage service division is doing a great job. Remember, if you have any issues with anything served in the restaurant, please see our Food and Beverage Manager, Adrian Boneta, and we will make it right.
The same care applies to your service with launching and returning to the marina. We have multiple harbor masters supervising our employees at the dock.
Summer is a great time to boat in SW Florida. However, please keep in mind that mid or late-afternoon storms are likely to occur much of the time. We cannot launch or use our forklifts if radar picks up lightning strikes within 6 miles of the marina. Please see our Club Protocols.
Our summer projects are underway. As you can imagine, maintenance and repairs are always needed to keep our property and equipment in top condition. Almost 100% of the maintenance is completed by our staff, as is most of our ongoing repairs.
As we honor America’s 250th anniversary, we expect to be very busy that weekend. We WILL be open if anyone wants to take their boat out in the evening to enjoy the fireworks. Watching the fireworks from the water is a very special event. Please be careful and exercise caution when returning your boat to the marina after the fireworks.
