Presidents Report: September 2021

Dear Members,

I hope that everyone has had a safe, healthy, and fun summer. Our management and staff and Board of Directors welcome you back and will do all that we can to assure that this will be a great boating season for you, your family, and friends. Our extensive summer maintenance and refurbishment projects are complete, and our facility is in great shape for the season. Our facility is about to enter its 17th year and we strive to keep it looking 1st class in all areas. As reported earlier this year we have purchased a 3rd forklift to improve our service this season. The other 2 forklifts have been extensively serviced to prepare for this upcoming service. Hopefully we will be returning to a full social schedule in the coming season.

We have completely revamped our website. The website will offer a much-improved look and functionality. For the owners you can access the owner portal and request a new log in. The owner’s portal will be secured, and each individual owner will have a unique log in and password. We encourage all members to have a look.

Employee of the Month

Our SHYC Employee of the Month for August was Fidel Prado Nunez. Fidel is the reigning Employee of the Year in our Marine Division. He is very talented and is one of our longest tenured employees. He excels in all that he does. Congratulations Fidel!

New and Improved Bar and Food Service Division

We have made many changes in our Food and Beverage Division. We have new management and an entirely new staff. Our new manager is Adrian Boneta. Adrian has over 30 years of experience in all facets of the restaurant industry. He has been received with overwhelming support and approval of our members and their guests.

We will be introducing our new menu on November 1st. The new menu is more diverse with new selections in all categories as well as the return of many of your favorites. We will also continue with daily lunch and dinner specials as well as our daily happy hour specials.

We need your support to enable us to continue the bar and restaurant in its present format. If you have not been to the club for lunch or dinner lately, please give us a try. I think that you will be presently pleased with our changes and attitude.

Book Your Christmas and Holiday Parties

Christmas and the holiday season are always fun at SHYC. Our beautifully decorated club and festive atmosphere is a great place for your private party. Our 4th floor can accommodate parties of up to 30 persons and offers amenities not found in local restaurants such as valet parking, beautiful water views and a no tipping policy to save you money. We have customized menus for everyone’s budget. We are now booking events so please contact Food and Beverage Manager Adrian Boneta by phone or email Adrian@shycfl.com who will assist in planning the perfect party for you.

I have had the pleasure of serving as President of the Board of Directors for the last 11 years. We have a knowledgeable, hard-working and effective Board of Directors. I want to thank Board VP Rich Levine, Board Secretary Nick Amelio and Directors Jo Googin and Dr. Gary Aspinwall for their tireless efforts in keeping SHYC a 5 Star facility. The goal of the Board of Directors and me is to ensure that you receive a 5 Star Experience every time you visit Sanibel Harbour Yacht Club. If your experience in any facet of our club fails to meet your expectations or if it is exceptional, please let me know about it. I am always available to help members in any way possible. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement.

Sincerely,

Peter Mazzagatti, President
